1976 – 1979


During January and February there were severe storms in the County, that brought down trees, fences and caused floods.

The Venture Scout Leaders thought that the Venture Scout group was a resource that could be used to assist.

Initial discussions took place with the Emergency Services and Scouting in Northamptonshire. It was clear that the 999 Services needed a team trained to a standard that they could rely on.

Training started with the Venture Scouts in September Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Services.
Training continued with St. Johns, East Midlands Ambulance Service (AKA. Three Shires), Police and Fire Service through the winter.

The Team then purchased a Transit Van and racked out the back to carry equipment.


2nd April – First the team had it’s inspection at Overstone Camping Ground

9-21st July – The team went out on 999 Emergency Ambulances to gain experience doing shifts.

12-30th October – The team continued 3rd Manning with the Ambulance service.

26th October – Radio Training was completed with Northamptonshire Police at Wootton Hall Park.


8th February – Purchased a new Ambulance with a grant from Queen’s Silver Jubilee Fund. Collected from Aylesbury Ambulance Station.

7-21st April – The team had another session with the Amulance Service. During this session some team members experienced Death for the first time.

4th December – Major Emergency Service exercise at Cohen’s Yard Kettering with Police, Fire and Ambulance.


14th October – The team completed it’s first Private Event at the Everdon Horse Trials.
